From historic drawings to contemporary identity

A key part of the project involved developing a graphic language rooted in the a rich archive of historic Swedish boat drawings. Rather than reproducing the original material, DOT carefully analyzed, refined, and distilled complex technical illustrations into a cohesive family of graphic elements.

The challenge was to preserve the character, craftsmanship, and historical authenticity of the original drawings while creating a contemporary visual system that could function across digital and print applications. Through a process of simplification and abstraction, DOT transformed detailed archival material into clear and recognizable graphics that communicate both expertise and heritage.

The resulting visual identity reflects the deep knowledge of traditional boatbuilding and its important role in preserving Swedish craftsmanship, maritime traditions, and living cultural heritage.
