THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD CUP

As FIFA built their football museum in Zürich the need to breathe new life into old archive material soon became apparent. We delivered nine large backdrop posters showcasing the World Cup tournaments played between 1930 and 1970. The main goal was to provide a sense of zeitgeist which in the end brought on not only a run down of football history but also an inventory of 20th century graphic design and illustration. Stroll down memory lane!

FIFA WORLD FOOTBALL MUSEUM

Seestrasse 27, 8002 Zürich, Switzerland.
Open Tuesday – Saturday 10:00 – 19:00, Sundays 09:00 – 18:00.

END OF AN ERA

In 1970 Brazil won the World Cup for the third time and was awarded the original Jules Rimet Trophy for all time. In the eighties however the trophy was stolen and has not resurfaced again, making those golden days of football seem sadly distant.

GOING FOR GOLD

Yet another poster for the FIFA World Football Museum. This time we portrayed the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia. Inspiration for the centrepiece design came from official graphics made for the tournament as well as traditional icon paintings. So, loads of gold.

THE PITCH AND BEYOND

A complicated project of this size naturally generates lots of sketches and ideas. Below is the initial pitch that secured us the assignment along with a few tests, sketches and references.
