Back in 2007 rising star producer Vincent Dancer wanted his labels to stand out. But not in a loud or vulgar fashion. He wanted to maintain a low-key elegance that speaks of self-assurance and know-how without bragging. A bit of graphic wit did the trick and the design carried six different titles.

Persuading American importers with an unorthodox label was difficult for an emerging producer a decade ago. After 2008 the vineyard was forced to back down and use a more traditional look. But with growing reputation and a market more at ease with contemporary design, Vincent Dancer has returned to the forefront of label design.
